Gala in Action

Rotary Funds in Action

The Crofton Rotary Club is consistently doing great things in the community, but usually you see even photos here and announcements of events. Here's a update on our less visible programs ... and a special thank you to everyone that helped make this year's Night Out to Help Out a great success.

The Crofton Rotary Club raised a net of $9,125 at this year's Gala. This included money earmarked for specific causes, such as $1,250 for local scholarships, $550 for The Complete Player Charity, $950 for the annual Sarah's House shoe drive and $600 towards dictionaries given to all third graders in the Crofton area, (at five elementary schools).

In the last week we were able to present a check to the Rivers of the World Foundation for $850. The ROW Foundation is working with Crofton Rotary on a project to help test waters in the upper tributaries of the Ganges River and help folks learn how to mitigate pollution sources. We also presented a check for $550 to TCP Charity, which helps kids learn good moral character and math through baseball and which provides athletic scholarships to kids whose families need some help.

Last week also reviewed the applications of seven high school seniors for the Rotary Scholarship Program. Katie Sullivan was selected and she will advance to compete and interview for the District 7620 Scholarship. The District will award two $5,000 scholarships. Crofton Rotary will also award smaller scholarships that will be announced at a later date. Go get 'em Katie!
